Empowering Honey Farmers: IAEB & 25 Universities Boost Economic Growth at MICVECS 2024

On July 13, 2024, the Indonesian Association of Economics and Business Experts (IAEB), in collaboration with 25 universities across Indonesia, organized a Community Service program in conjunction with the MICVECS 2024 event. Held at the Meliponiculture (honeybee farming) center in the village of Kelulut, managed by Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Melaka, the program focused on "Empowering Stingless Bee Honey Production to Boost Beekeepers’ Economy."

The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurhayati, Vice Rector III, and aimed to empower local beekeepers by enhancing their knowledge and skills in sustainable honey production. Through presentations and hands-on workshops, participants explored best practices in stingless bee honey farming, effective marketing strategies, and techniques to increase honey yield and quality.

The collaboration between IAEB and the partner universities aimed to support rural economic development by equipping honey farmers with the tools to maximize their production and reach broader markets. This initiative aligns with IAEB’s commitment to fostering economic resilience and promoting sustainable business practices in local communities.

The program received enthusiastic responses from local honey farmers, who saw it as a valuable opportunity to enhance their income and improve the quality of their products. Through this initiative, IAEB and the participating universities hope to create a lasting impact on rural economic development by empowering small-scale beekeepers with sustainable practices and market access.
